You paid The King's Ransom for WR Cedrick Wilson. If he is anything less than 1000 yards in receiving this season that trade is a bust.

It was basically for two 4ths and there is no way talent like him falls past the 2nd round anymore. He’ll be a solid WR4 for me just like WR Chris Godwin was. He performs admirably well in my sims. My draft will be a success with just my 1st and 2nd. The picks I traded away would have been mainly PS guys on my team desperately hoping for a boost.

Eskridge was drafted 4-7. Wilson was draft 5 seasons earlier at 2-18. When he reaches his full potential, Eskridge has just ONE point less AC, one point more HA, one point more EN, one less IN, but 4 higher DI. 699 over 694 totals. Eskridge is a slightly better WR.

What did James pay for a WR that is arguably better than Credick Wilson?

Chicago sends WR Eskridge and 2043 JAX 6th
Detroit sends 2043 WAS 5th

He traded a late 5th (it's WASH pick) for Eskridge and a early 6th (it's JAX) and Eskridge. So all he paid for this WR was downgrading a pick that could be 5-16 (88th overall) for what could well be a 6-5 pick (95th overall). So the cost of trading a pick down get James a better WR than the one that you paid The King's Ransom for.

I would bet that, even in this year's draft, the 54th pick overall gets as good or maybe a better WR. and then those other 3 picks get useful players and at least the player drafted 59th overall is good enough to NOT put on PS. Giant win by Thomas on that trade, IMO.

I think we all have made some moves as GMs that can be questioned. But in this instance, James and Thomas showed how it's done.

@Dean - one might question why so many teams are making as many trades as they have been making based on exactly what you are saying. There isn't enough difference in player ratings to trade the farm for right now. Maybe that will be different in 5 seasons.

That raises a good question Mitch. We have seen several trades in this off-season, and that is good. But what are we trading?

Consider my trades with Chicago that sent Justin Fields to the Cardinals and Trey Lance to the Falcons, as well as T Goedeke to Atlanta as well as a 2nd round Chicago draft pick that James offered up five draft picks to get. here are the two QBs:

Is Lance a good replacement for Fields? He's one year younger. Has one less ST, one more EN, one less DI, and overall both are 664 total. They are almost identical, Lance trades a point of DI for one more point of EN, otherwise same.

Based on ratings alone, should there be much difference in how Trey Lance plays vs. what Justin Fields did last season? If Trey Lance does better in 2042 than Justin Fields did ion 2041, you could say "it's the system" and Atlanta ran a better offense in 2042, and that Justin Fields would have run the 2042 Atlanta offense better than Trey Lance did. Or is there a "hidden ratings" for players that cause them to play "above" their ratings in the 8 skill attributes? We can only guess about those issues at this point.

At least I didn’t trade my starting Super Bowl QB after one bad game. The whole league knows it was a bad move. Purely a knee jerk reaction from a coach unable to accept HE lost the big game, not his QB. Blaming Fields is nothing more than making him a scapegoat. It was a bad move and you continuously keep trying to defend it in pure denial. The only reason Justin Fields had a bad game was because of MY DEFENSE. We all know it, but you can’t accept it. That could have been Dobbs, Lance or Jackson - would not have mattered. Same beating. Now, you are attacking my trade for a solid WR to try to feel better about your recent unnecessary trades and pump up yourself as some better GM which is actually quite laughable. All I saw was an unnecessary fire sale of a Super Bowl team.

It is more simple than all of that. I pointed out that you paid The King's Ransom for WR Cedrick Wilson, not because of the Super Bowl result (I respect what you did there, you had a better game plan and beat me in the game, proving that I need to get better) but because, quite frankly, you got ripped off BIG TIME in the trade for a very average WR. If Tim or Neil or Donovon makes that trades many of us here say the new GM got taken by Thomas. But you as a GM know better, and the bottom line is Thomas pulled a Willie Sutton here and you are the bank that got robbed. Big Time.

Say what you want about my trades, and maybe I did scapegoat Justin Fields, fairly or unfairly dedoring on one's point of view, so no "denial" there Dr. Corbett, but the moves got more more in return than what I traded. By trading Justin Fields and a few point, I get a QB that is ONE less point in overall ratings, a high quality starting offensive tackle, and five draft picks. If I select a WR at pick #60, it will be as good as the one you paid The King's Ransom for.

Facts are stubborn things.

If Credick Wilson were on my team he would slot at WR6, behind the 4 greqat ones I drafted and WR Javon Wims, a player I signed in an off-season in free agency for ONE point.

Bottom line is you gave away more in that trade than Kevin McCarthy gave to Matt Gaetz to become speaker.
